Recipe for a sauce that goes well with any type of fish. I made this sauce for boiled pike, and it turned out fantastic! The sauce has a rich, flavorful taste and aroma. Serve the sauce hot, highly recommended!
Fish Broth
1 cup
Honey
2 tbsp
Lemon
1 pc
Soy Sauce
2 tbsp
Nutmeg
a pinch
Ginger
1 tsp (grated finely)
Bay Leaves
2-3 leaves
Butter
3.5 tbsp
Cornstarch
2 tbsp
Parsley
or dill for serving
To prepare the honey sauce for fish, grate the zest of one lemon and squeeze the juice. Melt butter in a saucepan, add honey, lemon zest and juice, nutmeg, ginger, bay leaves, soy sauce, and ½ cup of fish broth (from cooking the fish). Bring to a boil.
In the remaining fish broth (1/2 cup), dissolve cornstarch. While stirring, pour the starch into the sauce and simmer until thickened (about 1 minute).
If you want a thicker sauce, use 4 tsp of cornstarch.
Serve the honey sauce with boiled fish, lemon, and herbs. Enjoy your meal!
