A recipe for a very popular Indian drink - 'masala' tea. This tea energizes and refreshes - a wonderful morning drink. It is a delicious and beneficial beverage that boosts immunity and helps with colds. And these are just a few of its positive qualities. Be sure to try it!
Water
1.5 cups (12 fl oz)
Milk
1 cup (8 fl oz)
Ginger
2 tsp (fresh grated root)
Tea
2 tsp (black loose leaf)
Cardamom
1 tsp (freshly ground)
Sugar
to taste or honey
To prepare ginger tea with milk and cardamom, pour water into a small saucepan, add ginger and tea. Place on heat, bring to a boil, and simmer for 1 minute.
Then pour in the milk and bring to a boil again. Remove from heat, add cardamom, stir. Return to heat and bring to a boil, add sugar to taste.
It's better to use brown sugar, it will give the tea an additional caramel flavor. Honey can also be used instead of sugar.
Strain the drink through a sieve or cheesecloth.
