The sauce is lean, but very tasty and can be used not only during fasting. The absence of eggs, cream, and sour cream in the recipe makes it low-calorie, which can be useful for those on a diet. The sauce goes well with almost everything - meat, fish, and vegetables. It can be used in sandwiches instead of mayonnaise.
Yellow Onion
1.5 cups (diced)
Water
1 cup + 2 tbsp
Black Pepper
1 tsp (ground)
Salt
1/2 tsp
Flour
1.5 tbsp
Sunflower Oil
6.75 tbsp (refined)
To prepare lenten onion sauce, cut the onion into thin rings, if the onion is large (like mine), cut it into half-rings.
Dilute the flour in cold water, stir with a whisk to avoid lumps.
Fry the onion in vegetable oil until transparent.
Add the onion to the mixture with flour and, stirring, bring to a boil.
Cook for 5-7 minutes, adding pepper at the end. Serve Lenten white onion sauce with meat, vegetables, or fish.
