A recipe from Belarusian cuisine, drani are prepared very quickly and disappear just as fast. Drani are also popular in Ukrainian (deruny, tertyukhi, kremzlyky), Russian (kakorki), Jewish (latkes) cuisines. The peculiarity of this dish is that it should be eaten immediately while hot with sour cream or garlic sauce. When drani cool down, they lose their taste.

To prepare potato pancakes, take a fine grater and grate the onion and potatoes alternately.
Mix the mass periodically. The onion helps prevent the potatoes from darkening.
Add minced garlic, flour, and egg. Mix it all well, add pepper and salt.
If you're not a fan of garlic, you can skip it.
Fry the potato pancakes until browned on both sides, trying to give them a neat round shape. Serve the potato pancakes hot with sour cream.
